  • Saturday, October 19, 2002, (9:30 - 11:30 am) & Sunday, October 20, 1:00 - 3:00 pm) -- Creek Monitoring: As part of National Water Monitoring Day (in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Clean Water Act) we will monitor using both our usual IWLA benthic macro-invertebrate protocol and the official NWMD water chemistry kits. We are also adding two new sites in Rockville, for a total of ten sites throughout the watershed.

  • Saturday, April 27, 9:30 am – Creek Cleanup: Trash cleanups are planned in several locations along Cabin John Creek.

  • Tuesday, April 23, 7:30 pm – Creek Meeting: There will be a meeting at the Clara Barton Community Center at the corner of MacArthur Blvd and 75th Street in Cabin John, MD. A representative from the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission will speak about WSSC’s plans for maintenance of the sewer along the creek. We have also invited DEP to present the current status of their restoration project, but DEP hasn’t confirmed yet.
  • Saturday, April 20, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm – Creek Monitoring: We will be conducting our regular monitoring, plus collecting samples for the State DNR Stream Waders Program. Please don’t RSVP now; we will send another e-mail in early April requesting RSVPs at that time.
  • Saturday, March 23, 9:00 am – Rockville Sewer Stream Walk: We will look at potential alignments for the planned City of Rockville sewer upgrade and potential restoration areas. If interested in attending, please contact Pam Rowe at 301/315-6520 or pamelarowe@ci.rockville.md.us.
