Annual Crab and Chicken Feast

The Cabin John Crab and Chicken Feast, first held in 1969, is Cabin John’s largest community event attracting more than 500 residents and visitors. It is sponsored by the Cabin John Citizens Association (CJCA) and serves as the organization’s primary fundraiser. Proceeds support CJCA activities, including holiday parties, the creek cleanup, blood drives, etc.

Since 1990 it has taken place at the Clara Barton Community Center traditionally on the second Saturday after Labor Day. In addition to serving up freshly-steamed crabs, BBQ chicken, baked beans, potato salad, collard greens, carrots and other sides, the Crab Feast has live music for the grown-ups, fun activities for the kids, and Cabin John t-shirts and memorabilia for sale. Scores of volunteers contribute time and talent to bring Cabin John together in a festivity enjoyed by all.
